EW #1082 is a Principal of ,Ltd which was formed on 1 December 2000 to provide independent excellence in toxicology, health risk assessment and regulatory affairs. Hisstaff have provided toxicology and regulatory affairs services for over ten years to clients in a wide range of industries and government in Asia Pacific and Africa.

Theyprovide toxicology, chemical registration and health based risk assessment services and can act as expert witnesses in toxicology.

Thestaff have extensive breadth of experience and expertise in the integration of science, advocacy, and management skills to help clients achieve their business objectives in the face of legal, regulatory, market, technical or public opinion threats. Toxikos staff are regularly invited to provide state of the art overviews on toxicology and risk communication and have access to extensive information sources and networks.

Hehas primary degrees in biochemistry and pharmacology and postgraduate degrees in toxicology, further toxicology training was undertaken as a postdoctoral follow at the National Institutes of Health, National Cancer Institute in the USA. Twelve years were spent at Flinders University of South Australia as a lecturer/senior lecturer teaching medical students, conducting toxicological research and participating in University administration.

In 1996 hewas certified in toxicology by earning Diplomate status of The American Board of Toxicology. He is the only certified consultant toxicologist in Australia.

Roger has acted as a toxicology consultant to Federal and State Health Authorities, was appointed to several standing National Health & Medical Research Council of Australia (NH&MRC) expert committees constituted for regulatory assessment of chemicals. He has been an invited member of many expert task groups of the World Health Organization for the International Programme on Chemical Safety.

For several years he was Manager of the Toxicology Information Section and also Corporate Toxicologist of ICI Australia and was principal toxicologist with SHE Pacific Pty Ltd, Safety Health and Environment Consultants. He has worked closely with the Plastic and Chemical Industries Association (PACIA) and Worksafe Australia in developing and refining regulations relating to hazard assessment of chemicals and provision of information to workers and emergency response personnel. He is currently consultant toxicologist with Toxikos Pty Ltd, a company founded to provide excellence in toxicology and risk assessment to support industry and regulatory risk management decision making.

He has expanded his interest and activity in health risk assessment methodologies, and routinely applies chemical hazard evaluation and risk assessment to occupational, environmental and public health chemical issues. He regularly presents guest lectures on the topic to learned societies and postgraduate training courses.

He is Adjunct Professor of Biochemical Toxicology at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Key Centre for Applied and Nutritional Toxicology. He teaches various aspects of toxicology to postgraduate and undergraduate students at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Monash and Melbourne Universities and has published more than 35 scientific articles in toxicology.

He continues to be actively involved in toxicological research by supervising postgraduate research programmes and reviewing research grant proposals for the NH&MRC and is on the editorial board of the scientific journal Regulatory Pharmacology and Toxicology. He is a member of several professional toxicological societies and is active in promoting and fostering the science in these organizations. He is a recognised national and international expert in toxicology and risk assessment.
