He began his career at Hutzel Hospital, a 400-bed teaching hospital component of The Detroit Medical Center.

He is the author of numerous articles and a frequent lecturer on major contemporary issues in Healthcare Administration. His current active academic appointments are: Associate Clinical Professor of Health Care Administration in the School of Policy, Planning and Development at the University of Southern California, and Visiting Guest Lecturer at the George Washington University School of Public Health & Health Services.
